I was interested in seeing the man, who has caused so much trouble in Tallinn two years ago. Originally he had his place in a small park in front of the National Library (Rahvusraamatukogu). As a memorial for Soviet soldieres died during the World War II, he was brought flowers by schoolkids on certain holidays. But beeing a sign for Soviet occupation for most Estonians, he was not wanted in the center of the capital anymore.
His relocation to the military cemetery in the south of Tallinn ( near the busstation) was the reason for street battles and depredation in Tallinn in early 2006. The city government discovered as a reason for these events the strong use of alcoholic beverages and prohibited the sale of alcohol from 8pm to 8am in Tallinn.
But of course the whole conflict includes much more. It was an outburst of a smouldering conflict between Estonians and the Russian/ Non-estonian minority.

Meeting him in person impressed me. A tall, strong man radiating so much loneliness and sadness.
